The Moral Obligation To Move to Mars
Since the birth of our planet, Earth has experienced 5 mass extinction events with the worst one eliminating 96% of all life.
If humans hope to persist for millions of years to come, we have to become an interplanetary species.
Mars exploration and colonization is an inevitable step in the story of mankind.
But, why should you want to move to mars?
Here are 4 reasons why you should feel morally obligated to move to mars.
You are tangibly impacting the future of mankind. It is fairly realistic to believe that within the next 75 years there will be an established full-time colony of people living on the Red Planet. By being a part of those “Modern-day Pilgrims” you are cementing your legacy as one of the brave souls that put their life on the line to ensure the survival of mankind.
Talk about the adventure of a lifetime. Moving to mars sounds like the absolute craziest thing on Earth (pun intended). If you like being pushed outside your comfort zone, this is the experience for you.
Opportunity. When you look at some of the most powerful companies in America today, a decent chunk of them are able to trace their roots back to the early days of the United States. I believe that Mars will be the same way. If you are someone that wants to build a strong-generational company, moving to mars might be the place to be.
I assume land will be cheap. Let’s think about this for a second. 100 years from now things on Earth get really bad (ie. Global warming, asteroid, etc), and everyone on Earth will want to leave. Guess where they are going? That’s right, baby. Mars. Once living on Earth is no longer an option, demand for Mars land is going to be out of this world. (disclaimer: depending on the circumstances this is a very morally ambiguous decision)
Is moving to Mars for everyone? No, absolutely not. If we can learn anything from the pilgrims (nearly half died the first winter) is that the move from Earth to Mars is going to be hard. But, what I do believe is that the exploration and colonization of Mars represent the biggest step in the history of mankind and we are going to see the most seismic shift in the history of the world.
