Why you should be a crusader
Let’s start with an inconvenient truth: anything in life that is worth doing is going to be hard.
Want to start a company? Awesome, it will be challenging.
Want to learn a second language? Great, not going to be easy.
Want to move to a new city? Get ready for a new way of life.
Now that we have established that meaningful things are hard, you have a few choices.
You can give up and refuse to do the hard thing.
You can do the hard thing.
Choosing to do the hard thing isn’t always the easy choice. Humans naturally want to take the path of least resistance.
The best way to choose hard things and get them done is to think of yourself as a crusader.
So, what is a crusader?
I am not talking about a Knight’s Templar Crusader. A crusader is an individual who chooses to do hard things despite the odds.
They are someone who works either alone or with a small group to accomplish a task fit for an army.
Are they crazy? Maybe. But, they are bold.
Think about some of the most influential individuals in history. Those who have changed the world, such as Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., and Steve Jobs.
They were crusaders.
They believed that they could change the world and they did.
They didn’t balk at the idea that it was going to be hard.
They got to work.
Happy Monday.
