Unleash The Fountain
The human brain is capable of amazing things.
Harnessing fire. Creating light. Shooting rockets into outer space.
Yet, the brain is also sensitive.
If we don’t sleep enough or eat the correct foods our brain power decreases.
In a lot of ways, our brain is similar to a fountain. If the fountain isn’t cared for and treated the correct way it will not function properly.
Our job is to maintain the fountain so that it can function in the best way possible.
The truth is that amazing outcomes live at the edge of human potential. If we do not get to the edge then we will not reach amazing outcomes.
What can we do to allow our fountain to flow as freely as possible?
Outside of the obvious such as diet, sleep, and exercise, here are the 4 things to do that will allow you to function best.
Improving the fountain. The amazing part about our brain is that it is a muscle. Through effort, we can create a brain that is better, faster, and stronger. We can exercise it in a way that allows it to create better results. We must continue to improve our brains in meaningful ways. Learning, reading, allowing creative space, and meditation are a few ways that we can improve our brains.
Focusing. An intense ability to focus on the things that matter will give you a leg up on the world. By tuning out the noise, and honing in on the few things that have an outsized impact you can achieve significantly more.
Eliminating leaks. A fountain with unintended leaks will be less dramatic than one without any leaks. We must work to eliminate leaks. Our biggest leaks come in the form of wasted time. Get groceries delivered, work out efficiently, and guard your time against the tasks that hijack it.
Consistency. Old Faithful in Yellow Stone National Park has erupted over a million times in consistent intervals since it was discovered in 1870. It is not enough to have one amazing short burst of energy. It must be consistent.
