The Game That I Play
This past weekend I tried something that I have never done before.
It was something that I had heard a lot about but never gave a shot.
Sensory Deprivation Therapy (Float Therapy).
Essentially you sit in this covered hot tub in complete darkness, the water is heated to your body temperature and filled with more than 1000 pounds of Epsom salt, so you can float. On top of this, you have earplugs in so you can’t hear anything.
Let me tell you, it is a crazy experience.
The duration of your float typically lasts around 60 minutes, so you have a lot of time to think.
During this float, I thought about a variety of topics. The future, the past, what I do well, and what I could do better.
But.
One subject stood out to me.
I have never described myself as a competitive person. But, I realized that just simply isn’t true. I am very competitive, I just never described the game that I play.
Here is the game.
Acquire and own as many cash-flowing and/or appreciating assets.
Be in the best mental & physical shape.
Build the strongest relationships with family & friends
Live as long and as vibrant a life as possible
Don’t be constrained, live your life on your own accord, the more freedom the better
Don’t be a cog for anyone, not even yourself.
Live a life worth writing about
And once I realized the game, it opened my eyes to a side of me I had never realized was there.
I don’t just want to create value and make money, I want it all.
I want to live the most insane, well-rounded life possible. That is what this game is.
You only win the game when all the pillars are in equilibrium. Without equilibrium, it all falls apart.
I hope that you join me in playing The Game. But, I must warn you, it’s not going to be easy to win.
