Pearls Don’t Lie On The Seashore

Anything good in life requires effort, and things that are great require immense effort.

There tends to be a natural aversion towards immense effort. But, immense effort is not something that should be feared. It should be embraced. Every invention or idea that has moved the world forward has been created through immense effort. Immense effort is the fuel that keeps the wheel of the world turning. Without effort, the world will stop in its tracks.

There is this perception that valuable things will be easy. That you will stumble upon a pearl on the seashore. That you are able to get all of the benefits without any effort.

That tends not to be the case.

Whether you are starting a company, attempting to learn a new skill, or any number of valuable challenges it will not be easy. You will face setbacks, you will run into roadblocks, you will have to sacrifice, and you will have to dive in order to find your pearl. There is no way around it.

Now, this isn’t to say you should dive without scuba diving equipment or choose a random body of water to go searching for oysters. Your efforts should be calculated. You should assemble the tools and know-how prior to embarking on your pearl-gathering mission.
