Habits Lead To Circumstance
The habits you have will determine the person you become. If you have a habit of saving money you will become someone who has money. If you have a habit of reading you will become someone who is well read. If you have a habit of eating unhealthy you will become fat.
None of this should be a surprise, yet we act surprised when we are not what we wish to become.
In the same sense where Charlie Munger says “Show me the incentive and I'll show you the outcome” If you show me the habits I will show you the circumstances.
To put it simply, the habits we develop determine the type of life we live.
So here is the important part: develop good habits and limit the bad habits.
So what are good habits?
Good habits are habits that move you closer to your goal.
Bad habits keep you stagnant or move you backward.
James Clear’s book “Atomic Habits” is incredibly helpful on this topic.
