Freedom is the Goal
What is the point of it all? Going to school. Getting a job. Sacrificing your time in pursuit of professional gain. For those that chose to go above and beyond what are you seeking to gain?
What are the ends that we are constantly pursuing?
Freedom.
100% ownership of yourself.
You see, most of us are not truly free.
We might feel free. But, we are not.
If you have a job you are not free. If you are trading your time for money, you are not free.
We pursue unbridled and unlimited freedom of ourselves.
Okay, so what is freedom and how can you achieve it?
Freedom is the ability to live life in the driver's seat, where you have 100% control over your life and your circumstances.
Freedom is the result of wealth.
However, it is important to note wealth does not mean having a lot of money or owning a mansion.
The lawyer who works 100 hours a week but drives home in a Bentley is not wealthy, they are rich.
Being rich does not equal freedom.
Being wealthy equals freedom. There is a difference.
Wealth requires ownership of your time.
The person who owns an automated business that makes $50,000 per year is wealthier than the person working as an accountant earning 10x that because they own their time.
So now that we have defined freedom and wealth, how can they be achieved?
The first step to achieving wealth and freedom is believing that it can be done. If you don’t believe that it is possible then the chances of you finding it are a lot lower.
Equity. As long as you are trading your time for money you will never create wealth and afford your freedom. You must own equity.
Be a student of the game. Wealth creation is a game. In order to beat the game, you have to study the game. Connect with others playing the same game as you. Look for “power-ups.” Find edges to win. If you play the game the same way everyone else plays it you will not win.
Play games with asymmetrical upside. Identify games where you can’t lose or where the value of winning outweighs the cost of losing. Especially if you are earlier in your journey to freedom.
Freedom is attainable, but like anything great, it requires willpower, innovation, and time.
We can all be free.
