Life is a battle of discipline.
Whoever can consistently execute and perform no matter the time, place, distractions, weather, or any other factor will more often than not be the winner.
So, why is it so hard to be disciplined?
We live in a world where almost everything we could ever want is at our fingertips. Want food? Order it from Uber Eats. Want to feel happy? Go on Instagram or TikTok. Want to feel upset? Turn on the news. In a culture where everything is easy, why would you do something that is hard?
Choosing the more difficult path is not easy.
In a sense, you need discipline to foster discipline. You need an awakening.
So how can you wake yourself up to the painful reality that your lack of discipline is eliminating your chances of achieving your dreams?
Well, first off you can read that sentence again.
Your lack of discipline is eliminating your chances of achieving your dreams.
Accept that as a fact and you will be on your first step of the journey.
Discipline creates exceptional outcomes.
Here are the three steps that can help you become more disciplined.
Do hard things often. Lift heavy weights, run further than you’ve run before, and read more than you’ve read before. Do things that push you, and do them consistently. Disciplined people consistently do more than they have ever done. Don’t be afraid of a task because it is hard, and don’t allow self-limiting beliefs to keep you from trying.
Plan. Discipline requires planning. Plan as much of your life as you are able to. What you will eat. When you will eat. What time you will go to the gym. What exercises you will do. What your morning routine is. What time you are going to start working. What you will work on from 9am-9:30am. What you are not going to do. What you are going to do when the clock strikes 5pm. What your goals are for the week, month, and year. Eliminate as many of your decisions as possible so you only need to focus on executing.
Light a fire inside of you. Passion moves the world forward. Care about who you are. Care about what you can accomplish. Your two hands and the brain inside your head are capable of building amazing things. You have this one life that is fading right before your eyes. Don’t wait until you are old and frail to realize that life is finite, and you have wasted most of it. Embrace your mortality, and cherish the life you have. Become a passionate person in all that you do.
This is a great Monday morning read! Very inspiring!
