Create The Future You Want
“If you don’t try to create the future you want, you must endure the future you get.”
John C. Maxwell
It is easy to forget that we dictate our own lives. We get to decide where we go. We get to decide what we become. At the end of the day it is entirely up to us to create the future we want, but most people don’t. They live life like a jellyfish aimlessly floating in the ocean moved about by the currents, but never go anywhere on their own volition. They don’t have a definitive drive toward a singular goal. They aren’t trying to create the future they want, they will end up only where circumstances lead them to be.
But, what is the alternative?
The alternative is simple. Believe that you are the one that dictates your future and start acting like it.
Quit blaming others for your own shortcomings.
Quit making excuses.
Quit telling yourself you will change eventually and change today.
Do you believe that you can change your own life?
What would make you believe?
When you hear about individuals who put their foot down and say “Today I am going to be different” and then proceed to change their life, do you look at them enviously and think “If only I could do that.”
What separates you from them?
Nothing.
By and large, we all have the same hardware.
We are all capable of change. Yet, most of us don’t want to bad enough, so we never improve. We stay like a jellyfish in the ocean.
Drifting, drifting, drifting…
Now, it is important to understand that “creating the life you want to live” is different for everyone.
It is not purely money or material possessions. It can be more time with family, freedom to travel, or more idle time to explore life.
But, for god’s sake do something.
